My neighbor lost her father and created this memory quilt from photos. It turned out lovely and will definitely be a keepsake for years to come.

Birdsong Quilt

Finished up this beauty last week, now resting comfortably in it's owner's home! Isn't it interesting how you think you have it all planned out and then inspiration strikes and changes everything? So is the case with this quilting. Several months ago Leslie emailed me regarding the quilting of her Birdsong, we decided on outline quilting the appliques with a variety of background fills. Then the quilt arrives and I'm not "feeling" the original quilting design, but it's what we discussed and I push forward. Or try to push forward, for whatever reason So Fine #50 with bottom line #60 kept shredding and breaking, it was crazy frustrating!!! I wasn't even going to try the monopoly around the appliques! Not sure what was going on, except to say the Universe was talking to me and telling me this was not the plan. After talking with several longarmer's, the consensus was....use a heavier weight thread. Well that changed everything! As I waited for th

Done!!! Monkey baby quilt

I'm so excited to have my monkey baby quilt completed and will be even more excited when my grandson gets to roll around on it! :) So here's more than a few pictures, it feels so incredibly soft , there's a few areas I didn't over quilt because I wanted to maintain a soft texture, but I guess that was unnecessary because it feels just wonderful all over! Measures ~60 x70, minky backing, poly batting. What I really want to talk about is the thread I used. Lately in the blogging universe, everyone is talking about Glide thread by Fil-Tec, with all the wonderful comments from so many spectacular quilters I took the plunge and bought several cones and bobbins. But for the life of me and my fussy longarm, the tension was never quite right, the thread had a tendency to unravel and shred. At first I adjusted tension, then changed needles, ironically I got less shredding with a 16 vs the 18, which didn't make sense but I went with it. I was never really pleased with

Spring Bouquets Finished!

Wow! My first customer quilt! of course it was to be custom quilted, not an E2E or pantograph that I had expected. I received this quilt in early December, the decision was to quilt using various fills, feathers and mctavishing. My goal and intent was to finish this in 2 weeks. However, my customer suffered the great tragedy of having her husband pass away. I know she and her family were devastated and the unfortunate timing just before the holidays would make grieving so much more difficult. Naturally, I sent a sympathy card, but my heart sank for her and her loved ones and I wanted to do something special for her. I put that attention into her quilt. I think it turned out very lovely and presented her with it this afternoon. I think she really liked it too. Enjoy the pictures, I know I will remember this quilt for many different reasons. Pearls

Good Morning! I'm feeling so refreshed after a week long visit to sunny florida! Beach days, great seafood and wonderful wine sure does relax this girl! I finished quilting this customer quilt before my vacation and just didnt have the time to get a posting up.... So...let's get started! The pattern is: Pearls by Zen Chic and the customer wanted geometric quilting and boy did she get geometrics! I think it turned out Awesome! ~65 x 65, quilters dream bat, Superior Threads So Fine #50 L ook closely and you'll see 3 diamonds quilted among the pearls, keeping the center from being too boring. Hoping the customer puts this into a few shows this upcoming year because it's a super cool quilt! Haha, how'd that get in there!!!! Just a couple more.... Thanks for stopping by!
