Hi all!
I just finished quilting Sarah's Cryptic Quilt, pattern by Swirly Girls and it is awesome! So much negative space for a longarm quilty gal to have fun with! Even the solid colors Sarah used are considered negative space, as the quilting really shines in these areas. So what's a girl supposed to do when faced with all this?! Quilt to your heart's desire!, that what! Sarah's planning on hanging this quilt in her home, which has some beautiful antiques, so she wanted to blend modern graphic lines with traditional quilting. While I tried to balance the two, you can see from the feathers they carry a whimsical feel instead of the heirloom traditional look. The colored blocks served as a good starting place to showcase quilting motifs and the background was filled with swirls, paisleys and fat feathers.
Facts; 72 x 50 inches, quilters dream cotton (love it), Glide and Superior threads, free motion hand guided quilting (no computerized designs)
And my favorite part, the back....although the quilting is amazing on the front side too!
