Deconstructed Lonestar Quilt

Hi all! Look at this beautiful quilt Leslie sent to me for quilting! We decided on double batting using Hobbs 80/20 with Hobbs Wool on top, this provides great definition for the quilting.  As a quilter, I search out the negative space, you know the areas where the quilting will really show!  Typically the negative space will be the lighter less printed fabrics.  Interestingly, on this quilt the negative areas are the stars themselves.  The white background had many, tiny black plus signs ( + ) which was enough to camouflage the background quilting. My solution was to use a large flowy quilting design and offset the circular motif designs with either an unquilted border or using strikingly different quilting, like small pepples or straight lines which separate it from the flowy quilting.   This allowed the motifs to stand out a little more.

The stars were quilted with gold Glide and SID with wonderfil 100wt thread.  The background was quilted with So Fine 50 wt off white thread.

here's the photo overload! Enjoy!

thanks for stopping by!
have a great day!
