Waterwheel Spin!

I quilted this some time ago for a client and just realized I hadn't posted any pictures of Buzzsaw  Waterfall Spin (pattern by Klaudeen Hanson).   It was made with batik fabrics and measures ~75 x75.  I believe this quilt would fall into the tessellating category with negative and positive images of the "spin".  The client chose a beautiful yellow batik fabric for the backing. My dilemma was the negative image, as it was made with a black fabric and black thread on the yellow backing screamed every little bobble and wobble and was so stark it hurt my eyes looking at it...so I ripped out the whole top border done with black thread and decided to use Glide gold over the entire piece...I mean if the thread is going to stand out then let's make it worth looking at! Now in hindsight I could have used a monopoly over these areas but that's hindsight for you, never comes into mind at time you need it.  Getting back to the quilting...well it's pretty much a feathery mess in the interior, but flip it to the back and it has such gorgeous texture! I love the backing!  The border has a geometric design and gives a solid structure to the beautiful bumpy interior.

California Dreaming Quilt

Here's another quilt I did for my customer Evelyn.  It's entitled California Dreaming, ~91x93.  I used Quilters Dream poly with Glide and Magnifico threads.  This was the first time I used this batting and I was very pleased with it, the quality is superb...I think it's much better than the Hobbs 80/20 which I usually use, but the cost is much more--of course! I used rows of organic fills alternating with rows of structured diamonds (diamond design by Judi Madsen).
Pebbles and Rocks :)

I love this design! reminds of olives...which reminds of Gin Gimlets...which signals it's time to stop quilting! :)

I'm totally diggin' squares right now....

Getting Back to work!

Wow!  It's been a long time since my last post!  I have been busy with client quilts... and I was able to sneak down to Marco Island FLORIDA! for a week!  Getting out of the cold and lying on the beach in 85* weather was just what I needed!  I must admit though, it feels weird being back in Wisconsin with the snow and cold and having a little sunburn :)

This is a Quilt of Valor quilt I did for Evelyn...

 I tried a new design....squares

The backing fabric is soooo cool, but the busy bubbles makes it hard to see the quilting...

Thanks for stopping by, hopefully I can get more pictures uploaded in the next couple of days.  Have a great weekend.
