Chicago International Quiltfest 2013

I am so very excited! for 2 reasons....this weekend me and 3 of my very close friends are having a Girls Weekend!!! Getting us all together has gotten to be challenging over the past few years so I am excited this is really happening.  We are going to Spring Green's Art Fair, then the American Players Outdoor Theatre to see Hamlet and then tent camping! Now 2 of my friends are princess's, so tent camping may be a stretch for them, but enough wine should help them adjust :)  The only questionable part is the fact Wisconsin has become a rain forest this year and there is a 50% chance of thunderstorms, ughhh! but enough wine should help us all adjust! :)

The second reason for my excitement; I attended the Chicago International Quiltfest last Friday.  Now this was no cow-town quilt show! I felt like I was walking into an art museum! Spectacular quilts! I could have taken a picture of each and every one! here's a few I captured....Enjoy!

WIP - Arkansas Crossroads

Just wanted to share the progress on my current projects.  I pieced together an Arkansas Crossroads quilt as a stash buster and finally got it on the LA machine.  I was going to do an E2E pantograph, but instead decided to quilt free-motion feathers in the squared areas, which was a lot of feathers! (but they quilt so quickly! making it fun!)  Then I doodled lots of possibilities for the white "crossroad" sections however I wasn't completely satisfied with any of them.  I wanted something fast, (after all it's a comfort quilt) but I didn't want a quilt-full of only feathers. Then I remembered seeing a tutorial on #Jenny's Doodling Needle blogsite back in January (?) so I revisited the tutorial and was amazed that it is the Same! quilt pattern!  Now I love what Jenny does with her quilting and decided I'd give it a go.

Also, I've decided to drive down to Chicago for the international quilt show this Friday! yay! I'm very excited!  I'm sure I'll have tons of pictures to post!  Thanks for looking, have a great week.

Winner! Amy's Creative Side Blogger's Quilt Fest

I am so excited to find out that I won with Journey to the Stars in the roygbiv category! This was the first time to participate in the quilt fest and I was absolutely blown away by the talent and gorgeous quilts out there.  I really liked visiting other blogger's sites and viewing all their works and reading their stories.  Thank you to everyone who voted and a huge thank you to Amy for organizing this event (I can't believe she does this twice a year! but glad she does :) -- and thanks to all the sponsors for their contributions.  Especially to the sponsor in this particular category- Jackie from Canton Village Quilt Works for the fat quarter pack of 20 Marblehead global brights!! (squeal!) It was crazy fun! and here's a few parting shots of Journey to the Stars....
